As if the idea of Dolly Parton taking on The Beatles’ “Let It Be” wasn’t cool enough, she recruited Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr to play on her version of the song.
In addition to the surviving members of The Beatles, Parton’s cover features two other classic rock legends: Peter Frampton and Mick Fleetwood.
Parton’s version of “Let It Be” will appear on her upcoming album, Rockstar, which drops in full on November 17th via her own Butterfly Records in conjunction with Big Machine Label Group. Thus far, we’ve also heard the lead single, “World on Fire,” “Bygones” featuring Judas Priest’s Rob Halford, a cover of Heart’s “Magic Man” with Ann Wilson herself, and Parton’s take on Queen’s classic “We Are the Champions.”
The 30-track album features nine original songs and an absolutely stacked guest list, which also includes Stevie Nicks, Elton John, Debbie Harry, Steve Perry, Sting, Joan Jett, Lizzo, Brandi Carlile, Miley Cyrus, and many, many more. Pre-orders for the album are ongoing.
Earlier this summer, Parton revealed that she has no plans for retirement and would rather “drop dead in the middle of a song on stage someday.”
Speaking of the road, Starr has mapped out a fall US tour (get your tickets here) and McCartney is set to play Australia and Brasil later this year (grab tickets here).
