In a delightfully bizarre twist on the horror-comedy genre, Members Club is set to make its world premiere at Pigeon Shrine FrightFest on August 24th. This audacious film, described as “The Full Monty meets From Dusk Till Dawn,” promises to deliver a unique blend of middle-aged male strippers and supernatural terror.
Directed by Marc Coleman, Members Club follows the misadventures of Wet Dreams, a down-on-their-luck group of middle-aged male strippers. When the troupe’s happy-go-lucky frontman, Alan, books a mysterious gig in rural Essex, their fortunes seem to be on the upswing. However, their striptease talents are put to the ultimate test as they find themselves embroiled in a sinister plot to resurrect a murderous 16th-century witch.
The film boasts an impressive ensemble of British talent, including Dean Kilbey, Perry Benson, and Barbara Smith, with a special appearance by pop icon Peter Andre in what’s being touted as his most outrageous role to date. This eclectic cast brings to life a world where the mundane collides with the supernatural, featuring such outlandish elements as talking cheese and pineapple hedgehogs, whisky-drinking toads, and an OnlyFans for pensioners.
Coleman’s script promises to take viewers on a wild ride, balancing the absurd with genuine horror elements. The director himself describes the film as a “Middle-aged Magic Mike meets a British From Dusk Till Dawn”, suggesting a perfect storm of humor, horror, and unexpected twists.
Producer Raghav ‘Gav’ Mukerji hints at the film’s unique appeal, stating, “The world has been calling for a stripper-killing witch film for years.” This tongue-in-cheek comment underscores the film’s commitment to pushing boundaries and exploring uncharted territory in the horror-comedy landscape.
With its world premiere at FrightFest, Members Club is poised to make a splash in the horror community. The film’s blend of British humor, supernatural elements, and unexpected twists could make it a standout entry in this year’s festival lineup. As the witching hour approaches for these unfortunate strippers, horror fans can look forward to a night of laughter, scares, and perhaps a few risqué dance moves.
Members Club premieres at Pigeon Shrine FrightFest on August 24th, promising 90 minutes of unadulterated, witch-infused chaos. For those who’ve ever wondered what happens when male strippers meet dark magic, the wait is almost over.
