It looks like Lindsay Lohan has dropped a big hint about her next acting, which, of course, is a full-circle moment for pop culture historians. The actress released the trailer of her guest part in ‘The Simpsons’, which not only revealed the character she’d be voicing – an older, a teenage version of baby Maggie – but also busted the trailer. The trailer shows a future where Maggie is up to driving practice while Lisa is spilling the beans to Bart, and Marge is persuading the little one not to talk so much. This is a wacky, time-traveling concept, but this series is the only one that could pull it off. The airing of the episode is scheduled for Sunday, December 14, 2023 on Fox.
However, the major issue here is not only the plot but the heritage as well. A customer immediately made the legendary connections, stating, ‘Baby Maggie has consistently been voiced by the deceased incredibly talented actress, Elizabeth Taylor. Now, Grown Maggie will be voiced by Lindsay, who played Elizabeth…deeply iconic.’ Such acknowledgment sparked the discussion and many voices joined together in the opinion that this casting was a kind of symmetry. Another user started with a single comment, ‘Maggie’s voice has moved from Elizabeth Taylor to Lindsay Lohan directly. she manifested correctly.’ Only kings or queens can receive such a voice stream.
Lohan’s voice delivery got mainly positive responses, although there were some puzzled hearers. The general opinion about her was that of a versatile actress, e.g., ‘Although the voice has been modified, I still love that our girl is recognizable!’ Others remarked, ‘It really doesn’t even sound like her! She really has a fantastic voice talent for versatility!’ This sparked a mini-discussion as a few people claimed that they could not detect Lohan’s trademark tone at all. ‘Am I the odd one out, or is it just me who can’t hear Lindsay?’ one asked and got responses ranging from outright disbelief to supporting her acting. A particularly clever comeback was, ‘That’s not the sound of Lindsay. No, you’re not going to believe this, but…she’s an actress. She’s acting.’
In addition to the voice scrutiny, Lohan’s career in general received a huge support wave. The comments section was filled with people asking for more opportunities for her in the voice acting field. ‘You should really do more voice acting Lindsay! Zootopia 3 is waiting for you!’ was one of the comments. Another one proclaimed loudly, ‘LINDSAY! YOU WERE AWESOME! PLEASE, DO MORE VOICE ACTING! The audience was letting their overpowering demand for more be felt as they unmasked their voices behind the scene of the varied skill set. Her recent travels have also been a topic of interest for fans.
The teaser also addressed the matter of the show’s mythology and some viewers were distracted by the visual particulars. Comments like ‘Why is Lisa bigger than Bart?’ and ‘so lisa was taller than bart at one point’ were recurrent, thus indicating the strange character designs in this futuristic setting. Some were taken aback to see Marge and got it connected with a famous future-setting episode where the character had a different fate. ‘I thought their mom died…’ one viewer commented and it invited others to explain that the show actually was non-linear and had non-linear, speculative episodes.
