Appearing alongside comedians Josh Spear, Adam Hunter, Greg Wilson, Sammy Larsen, Genia Gulot, and others, Despina took the audience on a fast-moving comedic ride through cultural misunderstandings, relationships, romance, and human behavior with her featured monologue, “All About No Sex.”
The routine hilariously compared Americans and Europeans in dating and intimacy, while Despina rapidly shifted between exaggerated personalities from Greece, Italy, France, Germany, Spain, Turkey, England, and the United States. Despina revealed that the rhythm and fearless energy behind the monologue were partially inspired by legendary comedian Bernie Mac.
“Bernie Mac had this fearless confidence where he controlled the room like a conductor,” Despina explained. “You couldn’t look away because you never knew what was coming next. I love that energy in live comedy.”
That same unpredictability has become Despina Mirou’s trademark in Hollywood comedy circles.
