Despina revealed that the rhythm and fearless energy behind the monologue were partially inspired by legendary comedian Bernie Mac.

“Bernie Mac had this fearless confidence where he controlled the room like a conductor,” Despina explained. “You couldn’t look away because you never knew what was coming next. I love that energy in live comedy.”

That same unpredictability has become Despina Mirou’s trademark in Hollywood comedy circles.
