What happens in the Avengers #1 trailer?
The trailer introduces a new Avengers lineup featuring Spider-Man, Wolverine, Captain Marvel, Daredevil, Luke Cage, and Miracleman. Following Avengers: Armageddon, the world order has been completely rewritten, forcing the new Avengers team to confront a changed Marvel Universe.
The trailer also features Mephisto, Mary Jane Watson, and Aunt May, prompting questions about Marvel’s plans for Peter Parker. Mephisto’s appearance has sparked speculation about a possible connection to Spider-Man: One More Day.
In the controversial 2007 storyline, Peter and Mary Jane made a deal with Mephisto to save Aunt May’s life, sacrificing their marriage and the memories of their life together as husband and wife. The trailer has fueled speculation that Marvel could revisit the storyline. No official confirmation establishes a direct connection.
The speculation has also grown following Marvel’s tease of a project titled 1 Day, scheduled for June 2027. The title has drawn comparisons to One More Day, but its connection to the storyline remains unconfirmed.
In Avengers #1, the new team assembles in the aftermath of Avengers: Armageddon to protect the Marvel Universe. The official synopsis also raises concerns about Miracleman, whose powerful new abilities could make him difficult to trust. The story continues in Avengers #2, when demons flood New York City and Spider-Man must protect Aunt May.
Zdarsky and Checchetto reunite for the series after previously collaborating on Daredevil. The first issue goes on sale November 4, 2026, with additional variant covers available through Marvel’s True Believers Blind Bags.
