Recently, there’s been some debate about ankle boots—whether they’re “in” or not. As someone who’s chronically online and works in fashion, I believe I know a lot about this topic, so I want to clarify that ankle boots are not just “in” for 2025, but they’re also everywhere, especially heeled sock boots. Brands like Khaite, Toteme, Reformation, and Docle Vita are all embracing this fall boot trend. Even H&M offers a pair that looks just as luxurious as those from high-end brands and is one of the best designer-passing pieces I’ve come across recently.
H&M’s Heeled Sock Boots are the shoes in question. They are priced affordably at $50, but don’t let that fool you —they look far more expensive, making you think that H&M forgot to add an extra zero to the tag. The ankle-high design features a snug yet stretchy upper that fits like a sock, and the pointed toe adds a sleek and sophisticated touch. The best part is that they come in three color options—black leather, chocolate-brown leather, and brown suede—catering to different styles. I’ll be adding all three to my wardrobe because, together, they cost less than the single designer pair I’ve had my eye on.
Expect these boots to be styled with everything from straight-leg jeans to black tailored trousers. When paired, the look combines polish and ease. The sophisticated, structured boots add a refined touch to relaxed pants. As for what to wear on top? Anything goes—a leather bomber jacket, oversize sweater, or a barn jacket.

Trust me, you’ll be wearing these all fall and winter long with jeans and trousers.
While I love the black pair, the chocolate-brown leather option looks more expensive.
These suede boots will add just the right amount of polish and personality to any simple outfit.
How Fashion People Are Styling Heeled Sock Boots
Style Notes: Shearling-lined outerwear truly had its big moment last year, and it doesn’t appear to be going away anytime soon. Pair it with straight-leg jeans, an oversize sweater, and sock boots to give your look a 2025 vibe.
Style Notes: If you’re stuck in a style rut when getting dressed to meet friends for brunch on weekends in the fall, a simple and elegant outfit idea to remember is a trench coat, a basic tee, a leather belt, and ankle socks with boots.
Style Notes: In 2025, chic dressers are trading classic pumps or slingbacks for heeled sock boots, especially when styled with black tailored trousers.
