Experience All 8 Landmark Films from the Original Universal Pictures Legacy in Stunning 4K Resolution on September 29, 2026
Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has officially announced the definitive home media release for horror enthusiasts and cinema purists alike: Frankenstein: Complete Legacy Collection. For the very first time, all eight iconic films from the original silver screen legacy are brought together in spectacular 4K Ultra HD, offering fans the chance to experience the history of Hollywood’s most unforgettable creature with unprecedented visual clarity and restored audio.
The original 1931 Frankenstein defined the cinematic horror genre and established an indelible pop-culture mythos. This comprehensive collection spans nearly two decades of gothic storytelling, tracing the evolution of Henry Frankenstein’s monster, his unforgettable Bride, and the legendary monster rallies that followed. Every terrifying laboratory spark, atmospheric shadow, and practical effects breakthrough has been meticulously remastered to preserve the historic craftsmanship of the Universal Classic Monsters era.
The definitive 4K Ultra HD collection features the following eight cinematic landmarks:
Frankenstein (1931): The tragic masterpiece starring Boris Karloff as the misunderstood Monster and Colin Clive as the obsessed scientist.
The Bride of Frankenstein (1935): Director James Whale’s stylistic triumph, widely considered one of the greatest sequels ever made.
Son of Frankenstein (1939): The lavish final entry of the original trilogy starring Karloff, Bela Lugosi as Ygor, and Basil Rathbone.
The Ghost of Frankenstein (1942): Lon Chaney Jr. steps into the heavy boots of the Monster as the madness continues.
The foundational cinematic crossover event, pairing the Monster (Bela Lugosi) against Lawrence Talbot.
House of Frankenstein (1944): A thrilling monster rally featuring Dracula, the Wolf Man, the Monster, and a mad scientist played by Boris Karloff.
House of Dracula (1945): The atmospheric gothic continuum bringing the studio’s legendary creatures together once more under one roof.
Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein (1948): The perfect blend of horror and comedy that brought the golden age of the original legacy to a triumphant close.
