While certain subversive mythical retellings and a swinging superhero will likely claim the top spots for the box office by the numbers, it’d be fair to say that the story of cinema in 2026 so far has been defined by horror. Interest in films like Obsession and Backrooms has been incredible and hopefully a sign of things to come.
At the same time, the world of Westeros has jumped back into the spotlight in TV circles. While rarely dipping into the realms of horror itself, many Game of Thrones alumni have in other projects, and are set to. Both Alfie Allen and Aiden Gillen will be in upcoming horror flicks, which they’ll hope can rival the best from their co-stars.
Rose Leslie’s Not-so-Romantic Getaway
Like many cast members, the runaway success of Game of Thrones made a name for Rose Leslie. It’s impossible to understate just how huge the show was and continues to be. In fact, along with its spin-off shows, it has new releases at the site with casino promotions worth checking out.

His turns as Boromir in The Lord of the Rings and a surprisingly well-characterised and established Odysseus in Troy highlight this particularly well. Luckily, the surrounding cast became strong enough to survive his demise.
He was among the first to sign on for what would become a huge show. As it turns out, less than a year before Game of Thrones aired, he starred in a horror film by the name of Black Death. Set during the titular plague, Bean’s arrival as a bishop’s envoy kicks off a trip to a village rumoured to be the home of an evil necromancer.
Not Just Another Reboot for Charles Dance
In what began as quite a minimal role on screen, Charles Dance’s presence never faded across his run on the show. He’s spoken very openly previously about how he’s glad that HBO backed it as well as they did, and that the BBC wouldn’t have done so. So, even with his unceremonious ousting, he very much enjoyed being Tywin Lannister.
Given the titan of stage that he is, Dance brings a level of authority to every scene he’s in. In 2024, along came The First Omen. In this era, which perpetuates to this day, it would have been easy to wave it aside as another lazy remake. As it goes, and thanks in part to Dance and fellow Westerosi actor Ralph Ineson, The First Omen can actually be filed under the good films category and one that fits the pre-established and beloved horror series.
There were many horror films to choose from, with most of the main cast having ventured into the genre at least once. For now, though, these comprise the top three worthy of a watch.
