Jason Sudeikis opened up about his experience filming Ted Lasso Season 4 in his hometown, Kansas City. He said he enjoys returning home and seeing the city through other people’s eyes. He also shared that his castmates loved Kansas City and praised the warm welcome it extended to visitors during the World Cup.
Jason Sudeikis reflects on filming Ted Lasso Season 4 in his hometown
In a recent conversation with PEOPLE, Sudeikis revealed that he loves going back to his hometown in Kansas and that he returns several times a year for charity events.
He said, “And when we do those events, we invite a lot of folks from out of town to participate in them. So, I’ve had the luxury of getting to re-learn and re-love, if that’s a phrase, my hometown over and over again through other people’s eyes.”
He further mentioned that he was “thrilled” to receive another opportunity through Ted Lasso Season 4 to return to his hometown and experience it through his castmates’ lens. He added that while a few of his co-stars had been to Kansas earlier, it was the first time for stars like Juno Temple and Jeremy Swift.
“Much like the characters, by the end of our time shooting there, which was about 10 days, they loved it,” he added. He believes Kansas to be a “really neat place” to be from.
The actor also touched upon how the city always welcomes its visitors in full force. Providing an example from the World Cup, he noted that it warmly welcomed people from around the world and earned their praise in return.
Season 4, first episode began with the show featuring the famous Kansas joint, Gates Bar-B-Q. This appears when Ted introduces his British friends, Rebecca, Keeley, and Higgins, to the famed barbecue sauce.
Ted Lasso Season 4 premiered on August 5 and will drop an episode weekly on Apple TV.
