Where ‘Transplant’ Left off & What’s Ahead in Season 2

New Amsterdam may be on break right now while The Thing About Pam airs, but another medical drama is joining Chicago Med in NBC’s lineup.

Transplant, starring Hamza Haq as Dr. Bashir “Bash” Hamed, a talented doctor and Syrian refugee, who fled his war-torn country with his younger sister Amira (Sirena Gulamgaus) and is making a fresh start in Canada, returns for its second season on Sunday, March 6. TV Insider has an exclusive first look at a video recapping where the series left off and teasing what’s ahead.

Season 1 was “the story of adjusting to your circumstances,” Haq says in the preview. Watch it above to re-meet the rest of the staff, recall where Season 1 left off, and find out what the star is “excited” for fans to see.

Season 2 picks up almost immediately where the previous one ended. Bash and the rest of the staff — Dr. Magalie “Mags” LeBlanc (Laurence Leboeuf), Dr. June Curtis (Ayisha Issa), Dr. Theo Hunter (Jim Watson), Claire Malone (Torri Higginson), and Dr. Wendy Atwater (Linda E. Smith) — reeling after Dr. Jed Bishop’s (John Hannah) stroke. “With everything at the hospital destabilized, the place that Bash had started to consider home suddenly feels precarious,” the logline teases. “As the team adjusts to new colleagues while dealing with the challenges of life, unexpected faces from the past leave Bash seriously doubting whether his ‘transplant’ into this new world was successful.”

Creator Joseph Kay continues to serve as showrunner and executive producer. Director Stefan Pleszczynski joins as executive producer and directed six episodes. Bruno Dubé, Jocelyn Deschênes, Virginia Rankin, Tara Woodbury, Josée Vallée, and Adam Barken are also executive producers.
