‘Arrow’ Star Juliana Harkavy Joins ABC’s ‘L

Juliana Harkavy, best known for playing Black Canary across the Arrowverse, is set for a lead role in the pilot for ABC‘s L.A. Law revival.

As reported by Deadline, Harkavy will join Blair Underwood and Corbin Bernsen, both of whom starred in the original series as Jonathan Rollins and Arnie Becker, respectively. The updated take on the Steven Bochco legal drama also stars new cast members Hari Nef (Transparent), Toks Olagundoye (Castle), Ian Duff (We Own This City), and John Harlan Kim (9-1-1).

Harkavy will play savvy attorney Yvette Cabrera, who is described as a “legal badass.” She will clash in the courtroom with Alana (Nef) in a controversial, headline-snatching case, made all the more complicated by the pair’s past as lovers. While the unresolved relationship issues cause friction, there is also undeniable sexual chemistry. Things only grow more complicated when Yvette is appointed a new partner at Alana’s law firm.

Marc Guggenheim and Ubah Mohamed will write the pilot, which focuses on the reinvention of McKenzie Brackman (now Becker Rollins) as a litigation firm “specializing in only the most high-profile, boundary-pushing and incendiary cases.” It will see the once idealistic Rollins become more serious and conservative as he clashes with the younger attorneys at the firm.

Harkavy is most recognized for her portrayal of Dinah Drake/Black Canary on The CW superhero series Arrow. She joined the show in a recurring role in Season 5 before being promoted to series regular in Season 6. She also reprised the role in fellow DC series The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow. Harkavy’s other televisions credits include Alisha on AMC’s zombie drama The Walking Dead, Sarah on the NBC occult detective drama Constantine, and Alex on the USA Network’s Graceland.

The L.A. Law revival will be executive produced by Underwood, Guggenheim, and Mohamed alongside Dayna Bochco and Jesse Bochco via Steven Bochco Productions, and Anthony Hemingway, who will also direct. 20th Television produces.
