More money, more problems? Kim Zolciak-Biermann and estranged husband Kroy Biermann faced legal drama — and possible foreclosure — ahead of their spring 2023 split.
Us Weekly confirmed in February 2023 that the Real Housewives of Atlanta star and her then-spouse’s Georgia mansion was in foreclosure. At the time, it was set to be auctioned off in March 2023, according to court documents obtained by Us.
“The debt secured by said Security Deed has been and is hereby declared due because of, among other possible events of default, failure to pay the indebtedness as and when due and in the manner provided in the Note and Security Deed,” the filing read. “The debt remaining in default, this sale will be made for the purpose of paying the same and all expenses of this sale, as provided in Security Deed and by law, including attorney’s fees.”
Trust Bank began the foreclosure process in August 2022, according to the docs. The legal proceeding started after the Zolciak-Biermann and Biermann defaulted on their mortgage.
The Bravo personality and the former NFL player, who tied the knot in November 2011, purchased the estate — located in Manor Golf & Country Club in Alpharetta, Georgia — in 2012 for $880,000.
The property spans a total of 6,900 square feet and has five bedrooms and six and a half bathrooms. There is a spa, waterfall, elevator and basketball court on the grounds.
The duo previously denied in November 2022 that they were having financial issues, with Zolciak-Biermann claiming via an Instagram Story, “My house had not sold for $272,000.”
In February 2023, the reality star’s eldest children, daughters Brielle and Ariana, also claimed that the rumors were not true.
“Don’t believe everything you hear,” Ariana told TMZ at the time, claiming the whole family still lived on the premises.
Zolciak-Biermann shares sons Kroy Jr. and Kash as well as twins Kane and Kaia with the former Atlanta Falcons player. Biermann adopted his estranged-wife’s daughters Brielle and Ariana — whom she had from a past relationship — in July 2013.
While Brock & Scott, PLLC announced in February 2023 that the estranged couple’s house was no longer going to auction, their marriage seemingly took a hit amid all the drama. News broke in May 2023 that the Don’t Be Tardy alum filed for divorce from Biermann after quietly separating one month prior.
