Shinedown Ties Foo Fighters for Most Mainstream Rock Airplay Top

Shinedown ties Foo Fighters for the most top 10s in the 41-year history of Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Airplay chart, as “Daylight” breaks into the top 10 of the July 2-dated survey.

Leaping 16-10, the song is the Brent Smith-fronted band’s 29th top 10, in as many visits to the tally. Shinedown first hit the top 10 with the No. 5-peaking “Fly From the Inside” in 2003; notably, each of the band’s first 28 entries has also gone on to hit the top five.

The Dave Grohl-led Foo Fighters first hit the chart’s top 10 with “This Is a Call,” which peaked at No. 6 in 1995, and most recently did so with the No. 3-peaking “Love Dies Young” this January, at the time taking over sole possession of the ranking’s top 10 record from Tom Petty, solo and with the Heartbreakers.

Of Shinedown’s 29 Mainstream Rock Airplay top 10s, a chart-record 17 have hit No. 1, including the band’s last seven entries before “Daylight.” The band most recently ruled with its eight-week leader “Planet Zero,” beginning in March.

Concurrently, “Daylight” pushes 27-24 on the all-rock-format, audience-based Rock & Alternative Airplay chart with 1.6 million audience impressions, up 19%, according to Luminate.

“Daylight” has also appeared on the multi-metric Hot Rock & Alternative Songs list for one week, reaching No. 34 (June 18) following its first full week of tracking. It has remained on Alternative Digital Song Sales each week since its debut, ranking at No. 19 on the latest list (600 sold). In the latest tracking period, it also accrued 682,000 official U.S. streams.

“Daylight” is the second radio single, following the title track, from Planet Zero, Shinedown’s seventh studio album. Due July 1, the set follows 2018’s Attention Attention, which debuted at No. 1 on the Top Rock Albums, Top Alternative Albums and Top Hard Rock Albums charts that May.
