Olivia Rodrigo recently joined Sheryl Crow for a performance of “If It Makes You Happy” at the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville.
Rodrigo shared video of the performance on Instagram, writing: “pinch me! sang one of my favorite songs of all time with the greatest of all time @sherylcrow !!!! what an honor!!!”
Last year, Crow presented Rodrigo with the Woman of the Year Award at Billboard’s Women in Music Awards. “I am happy to celebrate her,” Crow said of Rodrigo in a pre-ceremony interview. “I think she’s gonna be around a long time. She deserves to be where she is celebrating this moment.”
Meanwhile, Rodrigo praised Crow in her acceptance speech. “Sheryl, I’m such a massive fan of you and your songwriting and I’m so grateful that you’re here,” she said. “It really means the world.”
Rodrigo has a vast array of musical influences beyond Crow. She recently named Rage Against the Machine as her “favorite band right now,” and relied on Jack White, Kathleen Hanna, and St. Vincent as mentors while making her latest album, GUTS. Earlier in the year, she hit up Depeche Mode and The Cure concerts with her dad, and named Bruce Springsteen as her “biggest celebrity crush.”
Next year, Rodrigo is set to hit the road in support of GUTS. Spanning more than 75 dates, the “GUTS World Tour” visits both North America and Europe. Tickets are available here.
In November, Crow will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
