Alanis Morissette’s daughter, Onyx, celebrated her eighth birthday by joining her mother on stage to sing “Ironic” in Nashville on Sunday night.
The uber-sweet moment came during Morissette’s set at Bridgestone Arena, the latest stop on her 2024 “The Triple Moon Tour” with Joan Jett & the Blackhearts (get tickets). Bringing Onyx onstage, Morissette led the crowd in singing “Happy Birthday” — which on its own should be a sample, just for the sheer fact that it’s Morissette’s voice delivering “Happy Birthday.”

From there, Onyx took the lead for “Ironic,” singing the verses as her mom watched with a precious look of love and pride. When the chorus came, Onyx lit up and belted the words with confidence, as the crowd sang along. The whole thing is honestly adorable — watch a video of the performance below.
Morissette also posted a photo to Instagram of her and Onyx, with the caption “birthday angel girl moment 💫✨ singing ironic together 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭🎂🥹🥹🥹🥹 i love you so much onyx you are my dream daughter.” Check out the post below.
Meanwhile, on Monday night, Morissette sang the Canadian and American National Anthems —“O Canada” and “The Star-Spangled Banner” — ahead of game seven of the Stanley Cup Final between the Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers. (Morissette is a dual citizen of Canada and America.)
Morissette and Jett’s “Triple Moon Tour” will next visit Toronto, Milwaukee, Denver, and more cities before wrapping on August 10th in Inglewood, California. Grab tickets here.
