The Hulu charts are chaotic and wild, and that says a lot about the people who stream their horror movies there. This week’s random chart topper swam great lengths to claim the throne. According to Flixpatrol, The Reef: Stalked is the top-charting horror movie on Hulu proper. Meaning, it’s found on the streamer without any premium add-ons.
The Film’s Synopsis
After her sister’s murder, Nic, her younger sister, and two friends seek solace through a Pacific island kayaking adventure. Hours into the trip the women are stalked by a shark and must band together, face their fears and save each other.
The Reef: Stalked is a breakaway hit written and directed by Andrew Traucki. It stars Teressa Liane, Ann Truong, and Kate Lister. It is the spiritual sequel to The Reef (2010).

I KNOW. “We’re gonna need a bigger one.” I try and see every shark movie that presents itself as a serious movie. I did like The Reef Stalked!

The Reef is a top 5 shark movie. Well done thriller with great blending of real shark footage and human actors and some practical effects as well as reasonably good actors in their somewhat simple roles but solid terror and fear performances. pic.twitter.com/z5v6reJZxf

Andrea Riseborough’s nomination was big and viral and weird. But The Reef: Stalked’s composer single-handedly got his score nominated against competition like Everything Everywhere All at Once and The Whale. We found out how: https://t.co/6dCh45HTKR

And ya know what I also enjoyed The Reef: Stalked! I love a survival story with a group of women (which is also why I loved Fall annnd Torn Hearts!)

My movie reviews/advice. The Reef: Stalked. Not a bad film for such a small budget. You’ll be yelling at the screen in some parts. If you like scary Australian movies involving water, watch Sanctum.

I’ve given up watching anything that requires intelligence or concentration and have stuck on a shark film – The Reef: Stalked – and it’s perfect post-Christmas viewing

THE REEF : STALKED (2022)
⭐️⭐️⭐️While it may tread familiar waters, @AndrewTraucki’s sequel to his sharky sophomore shocker keeps it’s head above the surface thanks to some nicely intense action set pieces, good writing and some very fine performances from his all female cast pic.twitter.com/TezJT3adyl

The Reef: Stalked is actually rather good. Very effective set up, well acted and nicely put together. It’s like The Decent, or The Ritual, but with a shark.

We did not expect to be writing about a shark movie taking a bite out of the Hulu charts in the middle of winter. But since we’re chaos in a trench coat, we love to see it! The Reef: Stalked is having her moment, and we’re proud of her for it. If you’re trying to figure out if this is the kind of movie you need to see, watch the trailer below.
