The 10 Most Brutal Deaths On Film, According to Reddit

Reddit is the wild west of the internet. It’s filled with chaotic, fun, and oftentimes horrifying stuff. So, it makes sense that u/billiennnn would ask that community what are some of the most brutal deaths in cinema. The thread has already gotten plenty of solid answers. However, we spotted 10 titles we think are the clear winners. 

10. The Blob (1988) 

All Of The Deaths

This popcorn flick about goo from outer space running amuck has no right to be as disturbing as it is. However, we agree with Reddit that all the deaths in this movie are pretty brutal.

9. Silent Hill(2006) 

Cybil’s Death

Part of the reason this is one of the best video game adaptations is because it goes there like Degrassi. Seeing them prep Cybil to be burned alive was a lot. However, watching them lower her onto the flame and then seeing her get barbecued is beyond upsetting.

8. Final Destination 3 

The Tanning Bed Deaths

This franchise is known for over-the-top brutal deaths. However, they outdid themselves with this tanning bed double-death situation. From the moment the characters realize they are trapped in these hot boxes, we know it is about to get messy. 

7. Saw 3

The Rack

A franchise based on brutal deaths has to be on the list. While many of the Saw deaths would fit the bill, there is something about watching a man get torn apart that puts it in a whole other league than the others.

6. Midsommer

The Old Man

This disturbing death is my favorite part of the movie. It’s unsettling from top to bottom and never lets you catch your breath as it continues to add multiple layers of WTF. This scene is a clear winner.

5. You’re Next

The Blender

The kitchen fight was already real bloody; however, things were cranked up by inserting a blender into a bad guy’s head and hitting puree. I have yet to look at my smoothies the same way again. 

4. Sleepaway Camp

The Curling Iron

Every great villain deserves an iconic death, if they gotta die. Judy has the most memorable scene when she gets killed with a hot curling iron while trying to avoid a social gathering. The sounds from this scene live in most of our heads rent-free. 

3. Hereditary

The Piano Wire

For such a slow burn, this movie has plenty of brutal moments. However, Toni Collette levitating while attempting to behead herself with a piano wire is an image directly from hell. 

2. Jason X

Liquid Nitrogen Face

We know Jason is a wild boy. Even still, this scene is possibly one of the most brutal kills of the franchise. Mr. Voorhees doesn’t just freeze a screaming woman’s face in chemicals. He also smashes her face on the counter before tossing her aside as her frozen bits are still falling.

1. Bone Tomahawk

Split Down The Middle

This death left a lot of us speechless. We thought it started out brutal, but then they split this man in half before kicking his insides to the outside. No wonder it comes in as the number one most upvoted on Reddit.

Yikes.
