This psychological horror movie from 2007 features one of our favorite actors and is currently streaming for free. Very few actors have the resume and stage presence of Samuel L. Jackson. This is why fans of 1408 cite his performance as one of the top reasons they love this Stephen King gem.
Rotten Tomatoes Synopsis
“Mike Enslin (John Cusack) is a successful author who enjoys worldwide acclaim debunking supernatural phenomena — before he checks into the Dolphin Hotel, that is. Ignoring the warnings of the hotel manager (Samuel L. Jackson), he learns the meaning of real terror when he spends the night in a reputedly haunted room.”
1408 was directed by Mikael Håfström. It was adapted for the screen by Matt Greenberg, Scott Alexander, and Larry Karaszewski. It’s based on a Stephen King short story of the same name. The movie stars John Cusack, Samuel L. Jackson, Mary McCormack, Tony Shalhoub, and Isiah Whitlock Jr.

It’s been years since I last saw it, but “1408” is still scary and amazing. John Cusack acts his ass off, and even though he’s in it very briefly, Samuel L Jackson leaves a hell of an impression. Give this one a watch if you haven’t seen it, or just haven’t seen it in a while. pic.twitter.com/iLFXCVLouT

I watched 1408 last night and forgot how Samuel L Jackson set the stage for how scary this room was going to be. Then John Cusack was acting his ass off pic.twitter.com/kbGPUvwItJ

Watching 1408 and Samuel L Jackson has an incredible ability to go from sinister to welcoming in a split second that not many have.
