All Of The New Horror Coming To Hulu, December 2022

Hulu decided to give us a few more gruesome gifts this December. Because Hulu knows we need horror, thrillers, and sci-fi all year long, especially during these winter months. As I was looking for things to distract myself from working (who even does that anymore), I noticed Hulu is dropping a few gems I should share with you all. 

Christine

It’s the timeless tale of a boy and his homicidal car. It is impossible to skip a Stephen King and John Carpenter collaboration even if we wanted. The killer car is the cherry on top of that horror fan sundae. That’s why we must dig in the second it drops on Hulu. Especially because this movie is not usually streaming on the usual suspects. I am putting it on my revisit list because I remember Thee Bryan Fuller was working on a new Christine adaptation last year. I stay ready for the Fuller projects, so I don’t have to get ready. While there have not been any updates in a minute, I feel if we keep talking about it, then it will appear. Luckily, I talk a lot.

Darby And The Dead

Darby Harper is granted the ability to see ghosts after suffering a near-death experience in her childhood. So, of course, she starts a side business counseling local spirits in her spare time. It’s described as a supernatural teen comedy, so I’m probably not the audience for it. However, this PG-13 movie has been on my list for a minute just because it’s the kind of movie I would’ve killed for when I was a kid. Representation matters, and I know I’m not the only person going to watch this just because I had to wait so long for something like this. This is possibly one of my top two reasons I’m texting my friends, “Hulu is that girl!”

Final Destination (The Entire Series)

Listen! This supernatural horror franchise ruined many a millennial. We all rode in because of our crushes Devon Sawa and Kerr Smith but walked out afraid to fly and buying sporks in bulk. Let us not forget the mayhem that followed throughout this chaotic series. Do you know someone afraid to drive behind log trucks? Do you know why most of us are afraid of the gym? Well, it all comes back to these ridiculous movies that made everyday errands deadly. To drive home the anxiety, they have Tony Todd randomly popping up to remind us that we cannot beat death. You can now finally catch all five anxiety-inducing movies in one place.

Kindred

Octavia E. Butler served us sci-fi like no one else could. While a few recent movies thought they were giving us something akin to Kindred, no one can get into Butler’s lane. This is why so many of us have been waiting for this adaptation for so long. Whether or not we have the capacity to watch it this year, it’s about time Ms. Butler’s Kindred made it to the screen. The fact that it’s a mini-series, so it can take its time and fully explore everything on the page is an added bonus. I, for one, am so grateful for the FX to Hulu pipeline that permits those of us that cannot afford cable to watch.

The Night House

At long last, our friends who didn’t have HBO Max can experience this unexplainable movie. Rebecca Hall plays a widow that is uncovering a lot of her recently deceased husband’s secrets. Beth (Hall) is relatable, tough, vulnerable, and driven to get to the bottom of the mysteries her husband left. This movie is heavy on drama, but also serves a lot of moments that left me aggressively blinking at my screen. It’s about time our friends who bet on Hulu this year reap this gorgeous benefit. To be honest, I’m a little jealous that I’m not watching it for the first time too.

If you’re like me, you were already canceling on your friends and making peace with not going outside again until next September. So, it’s a good thing Hulu saw our hibernation had begun and gave us stuff to do while we flake on loved ones. Hulu sensed that we had closed our blinds and were one month into this year’s Winnie The Pooh fashion season. Now when we cancel the plans that we were never even pretending to be serious about, our friends will at least know what we are doing.
