Platinum Jubilee events have begun, and Kate Middleton dressed sharply for the first of this weekend’s festivities, Trooping the Colour. The Duchess of Cambridge opted to wear a white Alexander McQueen blazer dress with a matching two-tone fascinator by Philip Treacy. She rode in the carriage with Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall and her children Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. Her kids all matched in blue.

Kate is expected to join her husband, Prince William, on the balcony with the Queen and other working senior royal family members to watch the flypast later. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are also in town for Platinum Jubilee events with their two children, Archie and Lilibet, but will not be on the balcony with Kate and William.
Buckingham Palace announced ahead of the event why the Duke and Duchess of Sussex weren’t invited to join. A Buckingham Palace spokesperson said early last month, “After careful consideration, the Queen has decided that this year’s traditional Trooping the Colour balcony appearance on Thursday 2nd of June will be limited to Her Majesty and those members of the Royal Family who are currently undertaking official public duties on behalf of the Queen.”
Kate and William will miss any later private festivities for Lilibet’s first birthday on June 4. The snub is not due to any royal feud but work. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are scheduled to be in Wales on Saturday for Platinum Jubilee events. The couple notably wished Meghan and Harry’s oldest child, three-year-old Archie, a happy birthday publicly on their royal Instagram on May 6.
