The Michael Kors Fall 2024 collection was inspired by the designer’s grandmother
What do Carole Lombard, Kate Moss and Michael Kors’s grandmother all have in common? According to the namesake designer, they’re all timeless. For the Michael Kors Fall 2024 show, Kors was inspired by iconic women of the 1930s and ’90s and presented a profound study of classic staples. Bias cut slip dresses, tailored separates and luxurious knits all dominated the runway and collectively painted a picture of a woman whose wardrobe will never go out of style.
“One of my hallmarks has always been fashion that stands the test of time,” says Kors in a press release. “And when we talk about what’s timeless and what endures—it’s quality, it’s simplicity, it’s sophistication, it’s clothes that make you feel confident and powerful.” Mission accomplished.
Zendaya is one of the 2024 Met Gala co-chairs
Zendaya is finally one of the Met Gala co-chairs and to quote Lizzo, it’s about damn time. Also helping Anna Wintour plan the fashion event of the season? Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny and Chris Hemsworth. This year’s exhibition is vaguely titled “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” and promises to display garments that are so fragile they’ve rarely seen the light of day (*cough* Kim K). As to the red carpet theme, Mrs. Wintour teased it’ll be themed around “The Garden of Time,” which translates to “melancholic and moody florals.” Apparently, florals are now groundbreaking.
Louis Vuitton’s Nicolas Ghesquière becomes a YouTube host
To celebrate 10-years of Nicolas Ghesquière as the Artistic Director of women’s collections, Louis Vuitton is launching the YouTube series, “Nicolas Ghesquière: Shaping Fashion.” Each 10-minute episode will feature the visionary designer chatting with an exclusive guest (think house ambassadors!) about everything from film to music to fashion, sprinkled with personal anecdotes.
“This series was something completely new for me. It was very enjoyable to take the time to look back, reflect and smile on how these past ten years have flown by… and it is a journey that has been shaped by the wonderful friends in each episode! With the pace of things today, it feels special to sit down and reminisce a little,” says Ghesquière in a press release.
Canadian brand Wynn launches a denim capsule collection
Mark our words, Wynn is a brand worth watching. Created by CAFA NewGen honouree, Lynne Weare, this Canadian label offers gender fluid, high-end, elevated basics that prioritize comfort. While in the past this has translated to mesh undies and dresses, Wynn has just launched a capsule collection made entirely from deadstock denim. Shoppable items include a wrap belt, buckle skirt and chaps, but our favourite piece has to be this crop top above.

Alexander McQueen teases a return to its roots
Ahead of Seán McGirr’s debut collection for Alexander McQueen, the iconic British brand has released a few teasers of what to expect and there’s a lot to talk about. First — the logo! The house is dropping “Alexander” and reverting back to the original “McQueen” motif, with the C placed inside the Q.
Also, the images hint that something wicked this way comes. Stationed in a forest, models are sporting silver skull masks and tartan from the namesake designer’s highly controversial Fall 1995 “Highland Rape” collection. Will McQueen go back to its dark roots? Will we see a more odes to the ’90s? We’ll have to wait until March 2nd for the full reveal.
